I believe this picture applies to the rule of thirds because: Most of her head is the the center of the thirds. The lower half is all blanket, but in three separate shapes/parts The top middle is her shoulder The top left is the out of focus window The middle right is mostly hair The top right is mostly slanted shoulder
Each space has a different piece that creates balance.
